This note introduces you to the interview with <strong>Dr.<\/strong> <strong>Bas Rodenburg, professor of animal welfare at Utrecht University in the Netherlands.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nThe interviews were developed by Ad Bal, the editor of aviNews International, who has more than 20 years of experience as an editor in de poultry sector.\r\n\r\nDr. Rodenburg is the coordinator of the project called <strong>&#8220;Best Practice Hens&#8221;<\/strong> which is a European initiative. He explained that one of the reasons to create this project is <strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">the increase of cage-free hens and the variations in the production systems among countries regarding the percentage of farms that are changing to cage-free.<\/span><\/strong>\r\n\r\nThe European Commission proposed this project to <em>help farmers that have a low percentage of farms switch to cage-free to provide them with the best practices during the transition<\/em>.\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>A consortium, consisting of 7 partners, is\u00a0<b>developing Best Practices for Non-cage Egg Production Systems. <\/b><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nThis will be realized by sharing knowledge and best practices from countries that already keep the majority of their hens in non-cage systems, whilst also adjusting this knowledge to the local situation in the target countries (Visit the article\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/avinews.com\/en\/interview-professor-bas-rodenburg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cTaking layer welfare to a higher level across Europe\u201d<\/a> to read more)<\/span>\r\n\r\nOther topics discussed during the interview were:\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li><span style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\">Partners of this project<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li>Project financing<\/li>\r\n \t<li>The transition of the farmers to non-cage systems<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\nTo watch the interview with <strong>Dr. Bas Rodenburg<\/strong>, check out the video where the above topics and others are discussed in depth.\r\n<div class=\"subtitulos\">\r\n\r\n<strong>About aviNews International&#8217;s participation at the VIV-Europe 2022:<\/strong>\r\n\r\n<\/div>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>aviNews international delivered the latest magazine to most of the assistants.
